Rumor: Future MacBooks build in with 3G

Their are some speculations that Apple may introduce a high speed 3G data connection as a build in option in future MacBooks.

Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics thinks that Apple is planning on intoducing this technology in the future. He said: ”Bigger-screen or smaller-screen laptops with integrated cellular radios are a logical next step for Apple - and others”

We will expect Apple to make its announcement at Macworld 2009.

New Mac mini and iMac on November 10th?

Fundzilla says that they heard some sounds that the Mac mini and the iMac will recieve updates at November 10th. This would be a bit weird because it’s on a Monday.

It could make sense, because there were other sounds that the iMac and the Mac mini would see updates before the holiday season.

MacBook pro late 2008 supports 6GB of RAM

ZDNet published on their website that the new MacBook and MacBook Pros can only support a max of 6 Gigabyte of RAM. You can get this by use one 2GB and one 4GB Module.

Around a week ago there was a story that the new MacBooks could handle 8 Gigabytes of RAM. But who know’s what the time will bring us! I think you can do pretty well with 6GB.

This so called Modservice will costs you like $1300 or higher. This Mac Tablet mod has the same input and output featues as the normal MacBook.

It is also possible to buy a pre-modded Mac Tablet/Book for the price of $2200 or more.

New Mac mini is on the way

The website macMiniColo.net has published an report about the future of the Mac mini. They claim that they have heard that a new Mac mini is on its way.

They think the Mac mini has the following specs:

-Mini DisplayPort
-RAM up to 4GB
-SATA Optical Drive

It would be nice to see a new version of the Mac mini return!

iPhone sales beats RIM Blackberry

Apple just announced that the iPhone sales surpassed RIM’s Blackberry devices. Apple sold almost 6.9 million iPhones and rim ‘only’ 5.4 million in the 4th quarter of 2008

Will the Mac Mini be discontinued?

The people from Gizmode believes that the Mac Mini will be discontinued by Apple. They think that Apple has stopped orders for the low priced Mac and told to the retailers that they aren’t expected to update anymore.

This could be an signal for an product update… An alternative for the Mac Mini?

Later today Apple will be reporting their 2008 Q4 financial results. Maybe we will know more after that.

Apple updates Aperture to improve printing quality

Apple released an update for Aperture. This update improves the pringting quality of books, calendars and cards when you are ordering trough the print servers from Apple.

WebKit team: Safari first to pass Acid3

Maciej Stachowiak of the WebKit team has announced that the engine that runs Safari is the first to pass the Acid3 test for 100%.

Acid3 is a test page from the Web Standards Project that checks how well a web browser follows certain web standards, especially relating to the Document Object Model (DOM) and JavaScript.

The development build of WebKit passed that last hurdle today because of the recent speedups in JavaScript, DOM and rendering.

AppStore rejection emails under Non-Disclosure Agreement

Since the introduction of the App Store we have seen many applications that have been rejected by Apple due to various reasons.
From now on all of the rejection letters sent from Apple are under a Non-Disclosure Agreement. This means none of the contents may be spread to anyone other than the recipient of the email.

The e-mail from Apple contains the following message:

THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS MESSAGE IS UNDER NON-DISCLOSURE

Unfortunately the iPhone SDK is also under a Non-Disclosure Agreement. By doing this Apple is preventing developers helping each other.

Hopefully they will realize that this isn’t the best solution!

Apple offers online AT&T Signup plan

Apple started an new way for people to sign up with AT&T. This is an online service that allows you to:

1. Fill in your billing information.
2. Check eligibility and pricing.
3. Choose your AT&T rate plan.

When you are done, you can visit an Apple store to complete the purchase of you’re new iPhone. To bad it still requires an in-store activation. Unlike an at home activation like the speculations last week.
